Adult Religious Education (RCIA)

For up-to-date information about formally joining the Roman Catholic Church, or to complete the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation) please contact our Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) director, Deacon Chris Sandner.


General Information:

  1. In order to receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, First Commuion and Confirmation), you MUST attend the Rite of Election, Rite of Entry, the RCIA Retreat experience (off campus), and the Easter Vigil. Generally, classes meet on Tuesdays at St. Mark’s. Please note these dates in the calendar carefully as these are compulsory events for RCIA!
  2. If you have been baptized in the Roman Catholic faith or in another Christian denomination, please bring a copy of this record to your first meeting.
  3. Some student couples are in the process of being prepared for marraige concurant with their participation in the RCIA program. Please make sure that we are aware of your plans so that coordination may occur with your home parish of marriage.
  4. If you have been married civilly prior to entry into the RCIA or if you were married and divorced, please set a meeting – preferably in the Summer or early Fall time period prior to the Easter you will make your sacraments – with  Fr. John Love or Deacon Chris Sandner to discuss your particular sitution.
